The Importance of Choosing the Proper Shampoo for Your Pup:
You may be tempted to use human-grade shampoo on your dog for the sake of convenience. The issue is, human-grade shampoo isn't created for use on anything other than your scalp and hair. Dogs have special hair and skin needs that require shampoos and conditioners with distinct formulations such as dry skin relief, insect-repelling properties, or maybe dry coat cleaners for the times when you can't give your dog a complete bath.
Think about the idea that your pup is ikely to roll in the garbage, pick up fleas or ticks, or get dry, itchy spots, and it quickly becomes apparent why you need coat products that are made to tackle these problems. Human-grade shampoo won't have the proper components to de-scent, heal dryness, or get rid of unwanted hitchhikers. At Three Happy Hounds, we offer a range of dog grooming supplies that meet your needs to keep your dog smelling nice and looking great.
Dog coats come in an array of textures with hair follicles ranging from pin straight to tight curls. Therefore, it's important to use the right brushes and combs for your dog's coat. Some dogs grow thick undercoats while others have almost no undercoat at all. All coats require the correct kind of brush to decrease pulling out healthy hair and avoid skin injury. Your dog may appreciate a good scratching with the brush, or they may be thin-skinned and require the lightest of touches. If you're not sure of what types of brushes are best for the job, don't hesitate to ask our professionals at Three Happy Hounds in Fernley. Stop in or give us a call at (775) 404-4084 to discuss the kind of coat and specific issues your dog has. We'll show you what brushes and combs are the best for your dog.
The owners are so sweet and we absolutely loved the self wash room - it has everything you need - grooming leash, shampoo, conditioner, ear wipes, you name it. We were able to wash our dog and dry her in 15 minutes. Really felt like a spa experience. Our dog also got a blueberry popsicle after her bath and she LOVED it. Thank you so much!! We will be sure to book an appointment next time we are in town.
PS we loved that they had so many dried natural chews. We got dried beef tendon for the car ride and she went nuts for it!! So hard to find and they have a ton of variety.
The environment is very customer friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help you to your specific need. I have been a customer for a couple years any never had a terrible experience! I have two dogs and both are always getting rave reviews on their coats and overall health due to products I purchase at the store!
Very helpful with my bulky purchases. XD
The owner of Three Happy Hounds spent over half an hour educating me about the dog food industry and answering my questions. I left there knowing she cares about my dog as much as I do
